CIWW Freestyle Hub

With a strong history of freestyle, we are excited to announce that one of our freelance members of staff and passionate kayaker himself, John Russell, is bringing the hub back together. 

CIWW freestyle hub has always been about community and progression from day 1 when it started in 2018 by local paddlers Ness and Dai. After there priorities changed in 2022 they put a pause on the Hub saying “Daithi and I now have different commitments and don't really have the time to moderate the page, or run regular get-togethers, and don't feel it's right to leave it this page, un-moderated as that can lead to all sorts of issues!”

They go on to say, “We both had an absolute blast developing and running the Freestyle Hub, along with loads of other amazing paddlers who offered skill development and help to people, and loads of people who regularly turned up to get-togethers.  The vibe at the events was amazing and I made some amazing friends!”

John hopes to bring the community back together and share the joy of freestyle kayaking. In his opening post, he shared the values and aims of the group

“This group is aimed at kayakers who'd like to meet up regularly at CIWW, for boating fun, peer development, skill sharing and general freestyle shenanigans. Whether you're ninja grade and throwing airscrews or just wanting to learn the basics of freestyle, this group is for you!
There will be regular meet-ups at CIWW. For dates and deets, keep your eye out for info posts in this group.
