The difference between a canoe and a kayak is relatively simple, and all relates to the position of the person in the boat, and the type of paddle they use to propel themselves forward. A paddler is seated inside a kayak and uses a paddle that is double-bladded, to pull themsleves through the water on alternate sides. A canoe requires the paddler to kneel and use a single bladed paddle to move themselves through the water.
